Golf Course Shooting

Just recently a 53 year old man was charged with a 10,000 dollar fine and maybe up to 10 years in prison.  This mans name was John Fleming.  He lived on a golf course in Reno Nevada.  One day a golfer hit his house with a ball and went over to drop a ball wherever it went out of bounds and John Fleming decided to take out a shotgun and shoot at the golfer.  The golfer was taken to a hospital and treated with very minor wounds on his arms and legs.  Fleming said he fired from about 50 yards away in attempt to scare the golfer but he hit him.  John Fleming heard the golf ball hit the house and said he thought he was being shot at.  Fleming had no criminal record before the shooting.

Dog Helps Woman Survive

Just recently a woman in Anchorage Alaska survived three nights in the bitter cold.  This was unintended stay.  Her husband had gone out to the nearest road on his snowmobile and when he said he would be home just a few hours later be had not returned.  The the 57 year old woman went out on her snowmobile in search of her husband with her dog along side.  Not long after starting her search her snowmobile tipped over and would not start.  She didst have any kind of communication.  The sub-zero temperatures were getting to her so she decided to burn her snowmobile to keep warm.  Once the fire went out she decided to use the shell of it and try to make a hut.  Her and her dog sat cuddling under it.  Once they were found and some research was done the dog was said to have shared its body heat with the woman and that's what helped her survive in the cold for three days.

Bedazzled Tattooed Dogs

Everyone is getting dressed up for the holidays! Even the dogs! A pet groomer in Colorado has started bedazzling pets and giving them temporary tattoos for the holidays.  People get together and compare their dogs.  Everyone decorates their dog in a way that represents its personality.  One of the most popular decorations is called "booty bling."  This kind of stuff consists of Mohawks, nose rings and other rings around the body and also gems glued onto the dog.  The owner of this business name is Melissia, and she has been grooming dogs since she was a teenager.  She loves working with animals and decided to put her own twist on the business.  The most popular dog that comes into the shop are poodles. Some people have brought their dog from all around the country.  People all the way from Washington DC.

Gator on the train

Earlier this week reports have come into the transit system at Chicago's O'Hare international airport that a middle aged women has been riding the trains with a two foot alligator with her.  The woman released the alligator into the airport when it was later captured by officials and handed over to people that could properly care for the little critter.  The zookeeper that took in the alligator reported that he was in not good shape at all and was probably not being fed properly.  Currently the middle aged crazy women is on the run but police have visuals on what she looks like has has been coming to the transit around O'Hare a lot in the past month. Once she is found she will be charged with anywhere from a $300-$1000 for abandoning and animal and animal cruelty.  Police say that the alligator captured in the airport was for sure the same alligator that was on the film from the trains.

Cash Left in Tux

Shaun Freeman, from Oklahoma City and owner of a military surplus business, reported to channel 4 news that he had seem to miss place a very large amount of money.  He couldn't seem to remember where he put it and as he went through, trying to think of where he could have left it he remembered renting a tux for one of his friends "Dia De Los Muertos" parties.  He called the tux rental company and they said that they already had delivered it to the dry cleaners.  The women on the other end of the line shortly after their call rushed down the street to the dry cleaners and searched the tux they had earlier dropped off.  Christina, the lovely attendent on the other line thankfully found $1200 cash wadded up in the pocket off the pants.  Shaun said he was so thankful and was suprised everyone was so honest.  He did no lose a cent in this process.

Parking assistant

Todd Herremans, one of the Philadelphia Eagles guards was stolen from in the 2009 and 2010 football season.  A parking assistant, who was an employee of Lincoln memorial field, found official papers with Todd Herremans checking account numbers on them.  The parking assistant stole $250,000 dollars.  All he did was transfer the money to his checking account.  It was brought to attention until 2013 when Todd brought it up to an official who works in the stadium.  The 37 year old parking attendant is being charged with bank fraud and is having to play a 1 million dollar fine.  Todd Herremans got all of his money back.

ALCS

Sunday night was game two of the American League Championship Series between the Boston Red socks and the Detroit Tigers.  The whole game was dominated by the Tigers and many home runs and players running up the score.  The Red Socks trail 5-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning with no hope or energy coming from their dugout until the bottom of the 8th inning.  Big Papi(David Ortiz) game up to bat with the bases loaded and hit a booming grand slam to tie the game at 5 going into the 9th.  Their mojo continued in the field getting out of the top of the 9th with no damage done.  In the bottom of the 9th inning.  David Ortiz comes up to bat and hits a walk off solo home run for the win.  Hopefully their mojo carries them through the rest of the playoffs.

Warm Waters Cause Limited Space for Sea Mammals

In the Arctic Seas the climate is causing the waters to warm up.  Walruses and other Sea mammals come out of the waters and onto land or floating ice chunks to warm up.  Today with the waters warming up it make the walruses and other sea creatures very cramped on the ice chunks and little islands.  In 2011, scientists recorded 30,000 walruses beached in less than a mile stretch.  In 2013 the polar ice cap reached the sixth lowest covering in history.  People have been coming in and taking away walruses in mass groups, but they need to be careful because if a plane flies over and spooks the animals, a stampede could happen causing many little animals to die.A little bit after their efforts to remove animals from the area deadly sicknesses broke out among the animals.  People think it started in Russia but it killed a big group of the Walruses.  Now these animals are protected and reservations have been made for them.

Four Upgrades that Will Kill Your Home Value

Usually upgrades to your home would increase the value.  Not in this case.  Here are five things that would decrease the value of your house.  Number one reason in no order is converting bedrooms into other rooms for storage or anything else.  If you list your house on the market as a 3 bedroom house and the potential buyer come in and sees two bedrooms and another room with boxes in it, that doesn't look good on your part.  Second are hot tubs because some people find them gross, expensive to maintain and hard to remove once installed.  Third is colored trim and wall with any kind of texture on them.  This is because if you wanted to remove one of these you cant just simply paint over them, you would need to sand it all down.  Fourth is a children's styled bedroom.  Money spend on colorful paint, funny shaped ceiling fans and unique carpets is money you wont get back when you sell the house.  Lastly too much landscaping, because it will cover up the beauty of the house its self.

Dolphins Beach Themselves

Over this past weekend in Rio De Jenerio, the capitol of Brazil, 30 large dolphins beached themselves all of a sudden.  The cause for this happening is still unknown but scientists think that it was because of the school of dolphins were in search of a small group of fish and got caught in shallow water along the coast of Brazil or one the their pod leaders had died or been hurt badly.  These dolphins that were mistaken for killer whales at first when they were found laying on the beach in packs.  Seven of them were pronounced dead and others wounded from a shark attack in very deep water, causing them to seek help in more accessible waters.

Two Fishermans Nightmare Ends

Just last week two men in their mid 50's left the coast of the Bahamas for a fishing trip.  A few hours into their expedition the fishers boat flipped over and was floating about six inches under the surface of the water.  After sitting out there for 8 days with no water or food they were both severely dehydrated and both had hypothermia.  Luckily during the day a super tanker cargo ship spotted them and contacted coast guard for help.  A coast guard helicopter found them 30 miles off the coast of Boca Raton and West Palm Beach at about 5:00 pm on Saturday.  Both men were lifted to safety.  The coast guard swimmer Kyle Stallings that rescued them said the two men were full of energy and very excited when they saw they were being rescued.  The Bahamians skin was water-logged from sitting in salt water for 8 days straight.  He said if you would pinch their skin it would stay like that for 6 seconds.  The men were returned to their homes in the Bahamas and had a little further medical care but nothing too serious.

231 pound halibut

One day just an ordinary construction worker from Kansas took a unplanned fishing trip up into Alaska.  Just an hour into his free chartered fishing trip Dirk Whitsitt hooked a 231 pound halibut.  Dirk dropped a line in at 370 feet of water and after minutes the monster hoped on and he was in for a fight of his life.  It took Dirk 45 minutes to reel it in and after it got to the surface it decided to dive back down again.  The crew ended up using a gun to get the beast back into the boat.  Dirk decided to keep the trophy fish, but it was no record for those waters.

Just recently Team Oracle got caught cheating in America's cup.  This 45" catamaran was owned by Larry Ellison and was caught for adding 5 pounds of weight to the front of their boat making it easier to break through waves.  They caught Team Oracle in a practice race the day before.  These racing boats are very light so the slightest difference changes the race a lot!  The USA team Oracle got docked 2 points, making them win 2 more races than everyone else.  In 2010 the Oracle boat won America's cup just off the coast of South America and are looking for another win this year.
